The eRunbook software requires a Linux or Solaris operating system, which can also be provided as a virtual guest within a MS Windows system. Administration and user interaction is done via a web browser. All current versions of common web browsers are supported: Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, etc.

The eRunbook software remains under a classic commercial software licence. However, source code of this software is delivered to the customer. The level of difficulty for parametrization of eRunbook varies with the task at hand. Customizing a menu or a search is possible without special knowledge and can be easily done. Expanding the underlying data model however can be compared to the development of a normalized data model within a relational database and requires background knowledge accordingly.
